The Flamenco Bienal (Bianul Flamenco Festival) is held in Sevilla every 2 years since 1980, a perfect not touristic event fro those who want to get to know more about Flamenco! It is a Festival that combines Flamenco contest with different performances, singing and dancing. The selection and programming of the event is carried out by a consortium made up of an artistic commission, 5 relevant figures from the world of flamenco, and an advisory commission, made up of 10 experts who advise on the shows and activities parallel to the Flamenco Bienal, such as courses, conferences or seminars.
This year's edition, in addition to la Maestranza Theater, el Lope de Vega, Triana Hotel and el Real Alcázar, the fabulous Plaza de Toros will hold some of the shows, inagurating the Flamenco Bienal on the night of September 7. The Port of Sevilla will be the space for the closing concert, where Dorantes with his piano will close the Flamenco Bienal. The Alameda Theater will become an old Singer Café without reproducing the songs of old times, but adapting them to the new current style. The cycle of concerts "Al arte de su vuelo. XX edición", which will be developed mainly at the Lope de Vega, the Maestranza Theater and the Hotel Triana, is a show that will allow a look at the past and see the shows that have triumphed throughout history of the Flamenco Bienal, but from an updated perspective.
The real moment of Flamenco Bienal when the whole of Sevilla will be illuminated with flamenco show is on September 6, during the opening ceremony of an authentic "Fiesta en Triana" and the inclusive flashmob, which will be performed not only at the Monument of Tolerance in Sevilla, but all around the world, as in previous editions! The multitudinous event to dance the flashmob, which this year is designed for everyone, will be held at 8:40pm at the foot of the bridge of Isabel II, do not miss it out!
