To celebrate the International Women’s Day on March 8, Madrid is hosting another edition of the female creation festival, Ellas Crean, from March 5 to 31. This cultural event has prepared a full program including both new and established female artists from the world of cinema, literature, music, theater and many other fields. In its music selection for the International Women’s Day, Ellas Crean brings you Renaissance music, classical music, flamenco and jazz, rap and pop, as well as piano and poetry sessions. In the theatre section, women authors and directors will call for diversity contributing to the festival program. Filmoteca Española will show a cycle dedicated to women filmmakers and Palacio de la Prensa will have a special feature of the film Carmen y Lola, winner of two Goya Awards. On this 15th anniversary of Ellas Crean, dance will have a special place in 9 museums: Museo del Traje, Museo de Antropología, Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, Museo Arqueológico Nacional, Museo Cerralbo, Museo del Romanticismo, Museo Lázaro Galdiano, Museo de América and Museo de Artes Decorativas. The festival Ellas Crean maintains its collaboration with Madrid’s main cultural institutions and state museums, Biblioteca Nacional, Filmoteca Española, Institut Français, Instituto Goethe, Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Casa Árabe, Casa Sefarad, Cine Palacio de la Prensa, and the Asociación La Noche en Vivo (Live Nights Association) that brings you more than 70 live shows in 24 of its collaborating music halls.
Moreover, on March 9 and 10, Madrid holds a new edition of Design Market, called "Femme Creators" and dedicated tot he International Women’s Day and female designers. It is a unique meeting point that brings together art, design, street food gastronomy and live music under the same roof at Matadero Madrid. Design Market is a visibility and sales platform for Spanish design, which came about in 2013 and whose objective is to bring the designs of emerging and veteran creators to professionals, distributors and the general public.
