Santa Cruz is a neighborhood in the Old Town of Seville (Andalusia, Spain). The cathedral, the Archivo de Indias and the Alcázar are places that are in this neighborhood. In the late Middle Ages, the city's Jewish quarter was located in the Santa Cruz and San Bartolomé neighborhoods. Monumental buildings from the Roman period have been found in the area of the cathedral. In the 12th century, in the Muslim period, an aljama mosque was built. Construction on the Gothic cathedral began in 1430 and ended in the 1520s, although work was carried out on the building until the beginning of the 20th century.
